I've been learning by myself for about 3 months, I'm almost 40 yo and Day 1 of this 90-day period was the first time I picked up a guitar. I've already learned the basic chords and some riffs, and I am now in the boring part of developing muscle memory and being able to change chords faster. In the youtube videos that I watch to learn, the play-along part is usually very short, and more than often interrupted by comments or some other pauses for explanatory purposes. Maybe it's because uploaders don't want to have copyright problems so they rarely play a significant part the song for you to strum along. Only for that sole reason the game is worth the purchase: full uninterrupted songs to play along with. That's one thing, and the other problem I was facing was related to singing. Everytime I opened my mouth to sing I completely lost control of my hands: it was terribly frustrating and pathetic to the eyes of anyone unlucky enough to be nearby during my practice sessions. The software makes it easier to practice and overcome this challenge: You have lyrics and chords shown in real-time, and after a couple of attemps I was singing and playing for the first time in my life! Ah! And the strumming patterns are super easy to learn with this interface: If you are struggling with this particular skill, this game will be your salvation. Don't give up and keep practicing. Cheers!. The songs in this game are not accurate to the actual guitar tabs... in not in the way that Rocksmith provides, where it is a gradual progression to a studio perfect rendition. Some of the songs, in fact, aren't even close, like someone who had been playing guitar for six months guessed the notes to his favorite songs.The feedback is basically nonexistant, as well. So glad I refunded this. Do yourself a favor - if this program is how you are learning to play guitar, never play for anyone but yourself.. I am a beginner and this is awesome!!!Fun easy way to learn guitar.. This is a great app for the acoustic guitar players in the crowd! Yes you can use your electric to play but the songs are arranged to take advantage of the acoustic guitar. If you are looking for an app to track your playing and teach you how to play the guitar from the beginning, this might not be the app for you...but if you know a couple of chords and can tune your guitar you will easily find a few new songs to add to your setlist.This app does a fantastic job of tweeking the much loved Karaoke concept to include playing the guitar. The selection of included songs is pretty good and you will have no trouble finding some songs to play. You get a fully customizable backing track with every song. My only real complaint with the app is many of the included songs are lesser known songs of the artists. I expect that as this app matures the song list will improve and we will get come of the better known songs. The bottom line is if you play the guitar and love learning new songs, this app has plenty to offer. For about the price of one songbook you get an app with over 100 songs.. Absolutely brilliant. If you have ANY taste in music, and are anything above entry level in guitar DO NOT PURCHASE. Its SOME of the most popular songs over the last 4 years, stuff you hear 3 times a day on your local FM pop station. All the songs ARE 4 chords (basic open\/minor chords) and offers an intermediate player Nothing in terms of skill. I DO reccomend this to beginners who like pop music from the last couple years... but for most guitar players looking for something to gain, save the money, go to the local music shop, AND BUY A TAB BOOK :). I don't own a guitar, I don't really have much experiance with Rock Band or Guitar Master games or types of games. In fact, those games never really apealed to me.This game is really special and fantastic, though. "Guitar Karaoke" is exactly what you are getting here. Pick a song you like (there will be a song you like because there are tons of songs) and a video pops up showing you how to do each one of the baisic chords in the song. The video is as fully featured as you could ask for, so whenever you are comfortable with all of the chords, you go on to the song. There is no points system at all, instead there is an option for a metronome, and tempo adjustments live on the fly if you are having trouble keeping up. This game is about helping you learn to play guitar, by playing guitar yourself, strumming out tracks everyone knows in about 10 minutes from telling Steam to download it. There are a robust range of tools available, and no gimmicky anything.TLDR: it's more of a self help learn to play guitar program than a "game," but it's honestly really fantastic. I almost bought a real guitar because I played this game for free, true story.
